REAL WEDDING: KATHERINE + FLORIAN
Style is the main ingredient for this gorgeous wedding in Port Douglas. If you haven't heard about St Mary's by the Sea you have to hit up Mr Google and find out more. Every photo I see taken in this church is just divine and Katherine and Florian's are no different. Stephanie from Peppermint Lane has captured so many stunning images of their day. K + F chose our Navy + Naturals Collection which you can see in some of the pics below. Check out our Navy + Naturals Collection here.
REAL WEDDING: ALICE + BEN
It’s pretty special seeing pics from my client’s weddings. It’s one of my favourite parts of the whole process. I work so closely on colours and details and seeing how it all came together is beautiful. Alice and Ben’s flowers were matched to our Blooms Collection which I am just a little bit excited about. The incredible floral designers at Peonies Boutique Weddings should be applauded. Check out our Blooms Collection here.

Let’s face it… there are endless options for stationery and invitation suppliers out there. But are we all created equally? I’m sorry to say, but we are not! Here are our 6 top tips on choosing your designer and getting what you want the first time!
1. Is the style of design you’re after something they can create?
This I would say is the most important step toward choosing the right designer. If they are not creating designs that are to your taste or style, don’t expect them to be able to create it all of a sudden just because you’re paying them good money. This would relate more to a custom design, but if you’re choosing a design from an existing collection then there should be no problems as you can see it all there to start with.
2. Are you working directly with the designer or an online store churning out a template?
From my perspective if you’re working directly with the designer you will end up with a better result. There are lots of big online stores with hundreds of designs ready to go, they simply input your wording and churn it out. Often with not much care on typography or simply offering suggestions on how to make your stationery work better for you.
3. What will you end up with?
You may love something you have spotted on a blog or in a mag but beware of cheap printing processes. There are many beautiful designers out there but I believe that the design and finished product are as important as each other. Going for the cheapest price is not recommended, it’s your wedding and it will really be worth spending a little more to get quality.
4. Additional changes.
Always ask if there are a certain amount of changes included once your designer sends you a proof of your stationery. There are always going to be changes so you want to be aware of how much this costs. I made a decision long ago not to charge for additional changes, it makes the whole process simpler.
5. Are they available to contact?
It’s so important to get your invitations right, so it’s equally as important to make sure you can be in contact with your designer when needed. Can you pick up the phone and speak to them or get a response to an email promptly. If your first enquiry with a designer takes many days to hear back then firstly follow it up but it could be a sign of how things will roll.
6. Your budget.
Always ask if they can work with you to a particular budget. You may contact a designer and initially get a quote which is too high. I know that when I am speaking to any new enquiries that I always ask them to let me know if they are working to a particular budget as we are always more than happy to adjust elements and suggest options to keep costs down.
From my end I think your stationery is up there in the top 2 or 3 items that makes or breaks your big day! With these helpful tips I hope you are armed with some helpful information to safeguard you from any horror stories.
And of course… we would love to hear from you in the Off On My Bicycle studio for any of your invitation or stationery needs. A prompt response to your enquiries is a top priority of mine! Have a look at our current 2016 Collection here and get in touch via our Contact page.
All the best… Leisha x
I finally got to see The Boathouse at Shelly Beach in Sydney last week. Beautiful, gorgeous and what else would you expect from The Boathouse peeps. I took a few pics and thought I’d show you all.
A whirlwind explains this one… The beautiful Marina contacted me when her stationery supplier fell through at the last minute. We had 3 days to create this custom set, print and deliver. Just making it so the happy couple could fly out to the USA for their Californian wedding under these incredible festoon lights! A pleasure to work with and I know it was a wonderful day for Marina and Steven.
I am asked this alot and it’s a pretty important question. How long should I allow for my wedding stationery?
At the Off On My Bicycle studio we recommend you allow 4 weeks for a Collection order and 8 weeks for a Custom order. These timings are approximate and will vary depending on production at the time you place your order. Something to keep in mind… a major component of timing is in your hands, so a speedy approval makes for a faster order.
If you’re chosing to go for a custom design a big tip from us is that you get as much inspiration as you can from online sources, magazine etc… The more you can show us of the styles that you like the better.
So put simply, order your wedding stationery around 4 months prior to your wedding, this is based on posting your invitations 6-8 weeks before your big date. If you choose to send out a Save The Date obviously you would be working on that earlier.
If you’re reading this and are a little freaked out by our recommended time frames…. don’t worry we can work with you on a RUSH order also!

I am so excited to show you these pictures. I truly love working with my clients, and seeing how everything came together on their big day is the topping on the cake. Lizzie and Mark’s wedding at Avalon Sailing Club is such a delight. Navy, lime green and some jazzy tunes. A venue I have not seen used for a wedding yet but these photos just say it all. An intimate night of fun with their closest friends and family.
Lizzie first contacted me to create her stationery suite after seeing our Bicycle Silhouette Collection. Lizzie and Mark own a beautiful 1942 wooden boat on Pittwater which they have lovingly done up. This was a stunning addition to their day and how their stationery design came about. A few tweaks to the silhouette design as you will see. It was a night to remember on Pittwater and just as Lizzie first told me, ‘a low-key-shoes-off ‘ event. Congratulations Lizzie and Mark!
A beautiful day in May at the Gunners Barracks in Sydney. Congratulations to Ruba and Mitchell! Ruba’s dress was absolutely stunning by Karen Willis Holmes. Have a peek at their fabulous wedding video by Purple Ribbon Weddings.

Ever thought of eloping? Sarah and Chris planned their elopement after a Christmas trip to New York in 2012. They surprised their parents and siblings on the 8th June this year at Rushcutters Bay. 13 guests in total which I think is beautifully intimate and what it’s all about really. A special day about their marriage and letting their families be apart of it was just as special.
I worked with Sarah who owns, Wanderlust [a Boutique Event Design and Styling Company] on all areas of her stationery. She chose our LOVE Collection from very early on and was fabulous to work with as she knew what she wanted and had such a great vision for every part of it. As you will see in the photos below, she certainly knows how to put together a gorgeously styled event, all the little details are incredible. LOVE the converse shoes that were so fabulously created!
I still love this email that Sarah sent me when she first saw her invitations…
‘Oh my sweetheart!’ Was all I could exclaim when we open our stationary a moment ago. It is beyond perfect! Thank you so much Leisha. You’re a complete gem. Love Sarah + Chris
This beautiful bride contacted us earlier in the year to create a custom stationery suite. We had alot of fun designing this one! An old world, vintage style that tied in beautifully with their big day! I often don’t see the whole picture until one of our brides sends us photos after their big day, so it really is one of my favourite things to see. I get to see how all our emails and discussions on colours they’re using and location they’ve chosen work with the invitation. A fabulous look all round on this one and I love the heart wreath hanging in the pine tree during the ceremony! Congratulations JoAnn and Russell!

From each side of the ditch, come see us get hitched! This was the intro title for this couple’s wedding invitation. Explained beautifully I think!
The groom was a pilot from Oz and the bride an air hostess from NZ! This destination wedding was held in Auckland, New Zealand and is a special one because I got to attend the wedding plus have a lovely little holiday in NZ at the same time! This was my cousin, Justin’s wedding and there was one part to their wedding which was right up my alley! Just as we all finished our meals at the reception we could hear Greensleeves playing outside. Mr Whippy had arrived for dessert so the bride and groom headed out to the van to serve all their guests! Love it! If you’re an NZ couple and would like to work with us, it’s super easy. Just contact us and we’ll organise the rest.

I have been absolutely busting to get my hands on these pics from Thomas Stewart… and here they are! You may remember our What a Way to Save A Date post back in March for Warwick and Celia. If you thought those pics were amazing you will love the pics for the wedding they held at Yester Grange Estate in the Blue Mountains! Of course there were more yellow balloons and one very happy couple!
I can honestly say these two were more than a delight to work with, they were full of ideas and understood the process of creating a very special stationery suite.

As promised… here are some beautiful pictures from the very lovely Lisa who contacted us to work with her on a custom stationery suite. Lisa and Nathan were married at Dunbar House and may I just say the whole event was surrounded by style and glamour. The beautiful images are by Tealily Photography and I don’t think lighting gets any better than this on your wedding day!
Art Nouveau/Belle Epoque style were to be kept in mind and Lisa wanted to incorporate a floral component. I personally loved working with the old style typographical elements of this one. Decorative borders and ornate highlights. Enjoy!
Stationery + invitations: Off On My Bicycle / Photography: Tealily Photography / Bride’s Dress Designer: Mariana Hardwick / Bride’s Shoes: Badgley Mischka / Bridesmaid’s: Shieke / Hair + Makeup: Simona Janek / Flowers: Debbie Huang of Simple Wishes Flowers / Ceremony + Reception Venue: Dunbar House, Watson’s Bay
When Warwick and Celia contacted me to design their wedding stationery, they initially sent me across these incredible photos of their engagement photo shoot taken by Thomas Stewart. Check them out below!
They spent an afternoon in the sun with an abundance of yellow balloons [plus two blue ones], staying until the sun went down and finally letting them go into the evening sky! So of course they wanted to use one of their favourites for their Save The Date package. A simple A6 card along with a ‘don’t forget’ magnet with their wedding date was what they chose and I loved working with them. They made the process simple and I just love working with couples with a vision and an understanding of how important their stationery is.
We have of course designed their invitations and ‘day of’ stationery which we will be showcasing in the coming months. Wishing you both a wonderful day and thanks for being such a delight to work with.
Pops of colour on the beautiful Mactan Island in the Philippines… A fabulously bright and happy stationery collection with some quirky text and typography. I loved working with this couple, they were sensationally well organised and knew what they wanted. I’ve just spied their beautiful photographs and you can see that all their hard work has paid off! Congratulations Kim & Daniel!
